I believe that ‘Intellectual property are no longer long-term competitive advantages’ actually it’s not just me there are many VC’s, Angel Investors, and Entrepreneurs started to realize that it, let me explain it:
“No one can compete with my blog because it’s copyrighted.” Silly, right?
Patent usually takes six to two years to grant, it’s cost between $8K to $10K and a lot of efforts. Even if you got it, it wouldn’t help you much. Are you really going to pay your legal team to fight their legal team?
The reality is, anyone with enough money and resources can always take any idea and implement it. There’s no getting around that, but the good news is… it probably won’t happen.
Look around and you will find many cases like: HTC and Apple, Apple and Nokia, Nvidia and RAMBUS, and many others. But there are shiny side also:
- Patent make you more acquirable, and this is the main reason why many VC’s ask about it.
