What is the hiring process, philosophy?
Let me start with the philosophy, interview process is about match between the organization culture and a candidate’s personality, and about finding the right technical skills and experience for a position. We driven by philosophies like “hire for attitude, train for skill” and “hire our type of people”.
Regard the process is fairly simple and short: After the candidate submit the resume, we send screen questions, then we inform them by the result and if it positive we arrange interview. The expected time for the whole process is about two weeks.
The positions is tricky, could you explain it more?
The positions could be a little different because we actually have different kind of business, challenges.
One more thing: If your current position is tech-lead or team leader for example, it doesn’t mean that you can join Kngine in the same position, you can think about like apply in Microsoft simply, you can’t jump from Egypt* market tech-lead to Microsoft tech lead because they need different set of experience and knowledge. It’s the same to us.
What kind of challenges Kngine engineers could work on when they join?
Think big, we’re working on big challenges like: Machine Reading (i.e. read and understand the Web), Knowledge extraction and representation. We work on such challenges and more head to head with organizations like: MIT, Wolfram Researches, Washington University, Google, Microsoft, IBM, and others. And our work is proved, right now Kngine is the world most advantage Question Answering Engine on earth.
What about the Research and Development inside Kngine?
Think big, one of the challenge that we was addressing last month, is use the Machine Learning to improve the performance the efficiency of the disk access, so no matter what is your position will be involved in researches. Right now we have 5 patents in the pipeline which more than what Egypt (as a country) produced in one year.
